A newcomer to the Parallel Competition, Short & Queer was born of a burning desire to bring the queer community into sharper focus. We want to support their uniqueness and universality, shine a light on their reality and identify discrimination.
The films in this program, a mixed bag of form and style, are hot, vibrant, short, and definitely queer: from the extravagant performances of a group of Colombian activists, to the kindness of a mechanic’s workshop that offers a safe working space for minorities; to the agonizing journey of two people walking a city’s dark streets, to Victor's unlikely encounter with a sex worker; from the power of shame in a homophobic society, to the sweet madness of Pentola's romance with Batman, not to mention the tribulations of the flamboyant Habbib and his cape thief!
It’ll be a wild ride!
Don't forget to vote for your favorite short film at the end of each screening! Public Vote
Films with the highest number of votes will win the Parallel Competition Public Award.
The winning shorts will also be part of the Public's Favourite screening that will take place on Sunday, March 27 at 7pm at Théâtre C.
